History

Lugnasad was formed in 2003, running Irish dance classes firstly, and since 2005 we have been also providing Scottish Country Dance classes, as well as organising and participating in master classes and dancing weekends, competitions and festivals in Ukraine and abroad. We have run 4 international SCD DWEs in Kyiv (in 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2011).

Experienced SCD dancers have been members of RSCDS (International Branch) since 2008 and also, since June 2010, Lungasad is an affiliated group of RSCDS - the first and still the only in Ukraine. Our SCD teacher is certificated by the Society (fully qualified since 2014, Units 2-5 had been attended, and final exams passed, at the RSCDS St Andrews Summer School in 2012-2014).

Since 2010, our Irish dancers actively participate in the WIDA Irish dancing competitions (Feiseanna & Oireachtasai) where they perform successfuly. Our leading Irish dance teacher is a World Champion (WIDA).
